I've received several three-month trial vouchers to hand out to friends. (Most recent email subject: "A treat from us - Kagi".) I try to give them to people who will use it, but my uptake rate is not great. (1 of 6 so far?) Today, sitting next to my mother, I got a glimpse into why.
She followed the semi-unique link to create an account (https://kagi.com/p/[redacted]), entered her email address and a password. Then it asked for her name and a billing address. She was willing to enter a name, but balked at providing her home address. The form would not let her proceed otherwise. She closed the tab and didn't seem that interested to continue.
A common expectation (especially among the privacy-conscious and spam-weary) is that a free trial of an online service should not require providing one's home address. There is no need to calculate local sales tax yet. Consider not asking for this until someone chooses to convert their trial into a paid subscription.
