More payment options

I'm going to have to disagree with the 'done' tag. Currently we need support staff to manually bill you for your wallet even when you're a cent short. I wouldn't quite call that practical. This will require intermittent actions from both subscribers and staff.

tsfd Could you make a seperate feedback post about giftcard as payment method. Also what about https://www.paysafecard.com/ ? (personally don't have experience with) but this a card you can buy in various european super markets and can then redeem online. (currently kagi doesn't support it, but they could probably)

@Boomkop3 I assume you are manually topping up your account?
and just to fully make sure I understand: the problem is that your account doesn't properly renew because it's short on credit?
If that's the case, a reminder before the renewing happens (maybe 7-10 days in advance) if there isn't enough credit on your account, would that help? if so: feel free to create a seperate kagifeedback post about that

Thibaultmol I am getting reminders. And when there is enough credit, it runs fine. But unfortunately I'm paying in euros, Kagi is charging in dollars, paypal is taking a fee, and the next month the exchange rate is has changed and I can start over.

So I happen to be short sometimes. I can top up my account, and you'd think it would be fine then. But: the billing page does not let me charge my now-topped-up credit. I have to go to the kagi discord and ask for help. To my knowledge, this has not been fixed to this day. I have reported it more than a few times and it would seem like the kagi staff just don't care as much about international customers.

This has happened twice now. And more issues, at one point I even had to come in and explain one of the devs how to use a paypal form. At that time, the paypal/ideal form was not working at all. I'm worried Kagi may be missing out on quite a few customers unless they get their "getting paid" solution working properly.

The giftcard you suggest looks suitable, it seems to be widely available in Europe. I haven't tried it myself though.

Is there a problem with the billing system? I live in Europe and it seems impossible to pay Kagi. There are no problems with my cards.

The problem was with the creditcard, not Kagi 🙂
I am not that used to creditcards, in the Netherlands we always pay directly with our bank account.
My confusion came from the fact the credit card account did not mention any issues, so I called the company and they resolved the issue.

Johan You can use paypal and ideal as well. Those don't poke a giant hole into your bank account's security

Your points may all be valid. But for me the fact is that my bank (or rather my bank's credit card processor) decides that using a FIDO2 key (purchased from the bank!) isn't secure when used from a browser on Linux. So I don't have a credit card as an option. Simply because I refuse to use the other operating systems for my privately owned devices. Curiously for similar reasons that made me choose Kagi 😉

But all alternative options also come at a premium, as I see it. Professional at 10 instead of 9 $/month. Not much, but it's still worth more than one extra month.

Even though I would happily pay ahead of the upcoming year and make it recurring from my end, there is no such option. Not even via Paypal. So in the end everyone who is forced into one of the inferior payment options pays extra.

Mullvad has figured it out. They show you a number which corresponds to your account number and you simply wire money (via SEPA) to a predefined account giving this number as a reference. Doesn't exactly seem like rocket science to me ... or brain surgery, if that's more up your alley 😉

PS: the invoice gives a UK VAT number and UK is part of SEPA ...

Bitdruid Don't be a hostage to your bank! 🙂 Get another account with a bank that works better with your OS and browser. I have 4 different banks and use each one in the situation where they have the best and most convenient service compared to the others.

Mullvad is a good example of a simple system which works well. I agree with you that Kagi should look to copy them if they decide to go down this route.

I would love to see some different payment options that aren't focussed just on US customers. Paypal is shafting me on fees and I'm already getting shafted on exchange rates.

whatever for me Kagi went down in price now that the dollar is down. But unfortunately I still can't buy my friends Kagi, because they don't support paypal or ideal for their gift options.
