In e.g. Germany and Austria hardly anyone uses credit cards. It would be good if we had gift card payment options, like e.g. Paysafecard. This would also be an anonymous payment option (I imagine a lack of such an option could be a deal breaker for some) and you wouldn't have to deal with crypro-currencies.
As for recurring payments, just make the users top-up their accounts in a pre-paid fashion. Personally, I pay my email provider the same way once a year. Just send people an email reminder when the balance is getting low (e.g. two months beforehand).
