Kagi Assistant: allow to generate and download files

Sometimes I want Assistant to generate a file for me.

E.g. create an .ics file with a few appointments, maybe picked from an email I paste in.

Right now Assistant outputs the contents of the file and then asks me to manually copy and paste it into a file. Which is tedious and potentially error prone.

ChatGPT provides a link to download the .ics file directly, without needing to copy and paste into a local text editor.

I need this quite often, and would be neat to have!

I asked GPT 4o for appointment file recently and thought that it was dumb, bc it gave me the file "code" instead of the file/dl link 😂

This would be great. Would you expect to be able to download files you’ve previously attached too? Or just generated ones?

These type of features make me think of Claude Artifacts or OpenAI Canvas. Where the LLMs interact with “objects” such as code files, scripts, docs, HMTL viewer, etc. I don't think it’s on their roadmap yet, but maybe this would be a good place to start!

dps Haven't used any AI stuff but simple local things and now Assistant, that sounds fascinating and something I'd love to see integrated.

Looks like this is implemented now:

Even though Assistent still gernerates instructions to copy & paste into a text editor 🙂
