Using the site: operator to limit results to those from a specific website doesn't always work when doing image searches.

See example search, for "site:wikimedia.org triage icon svg":
https://kagi.com/images?q=site%3Awikimedia.org+triage+icon+svg&r=no_region&sh=DZU846mWGOV2vyVnvMpU7Q

A number of results from other domains appear, like reddit.com, brandfetch.com etc.

(Interesting aside: with using the share link, different results were shown when I tested the shared link in a non-logged-in browser!)

(Though this is besides the point of this post!)

When using site: operator, that only results from that site/domain are shown.

I dunno, it still seems to be happening for me. Still reproducible with the example search, and other variations with 3 search terms, e.g. "site:wikimedia.org triage icons png" etc. - maybe that's a clue?

It's an odd one, I was trying to find some similar examples using terms like yours.

I happened to find examples when I made a typo, strangely enough: "site:wikimedia.org radiation icon pmg" gives non wikimedia results.

Maybe it's not applying the site operator when doing approximate string (fuzzy) matches?

edapstah Weird, misspelling png as pmg gives non-Wikimedia results, but no other misspelling of png or the search terms I've found gives non-Wikimedia results.

Hm this has been marked as done, but is still happening quite frequently.

I'm finding it usually only happens with at least 3 search terms, not with 2.

Interestingly, I repeated a search where this happened on google images and it seems to happen there as well.
The problem may actually be upstream - maybe Kagi could impose additional checks/filtering when search operators are used?

Looks like it's working correctly now! 👍

Edit: In fact, Kagi now is displaying results correctly, whereas the same search in Google images doesn't work correctly at all. A good win for Kagi!
