Kagi assistant not providing references when web access is selected

When a query is input into the assistant with web access selected the output sometimes returns without any references, even when explicitly asked for in the initial query or follow up questions. On DeepSeek R1 it would debate itself often, I have tried to reproduce what I initially experienced but it has changed in its output behavior but the desired output is still not achieved.

The outputs provided by the LLM should always include references. When web access is selected, it should also always provide references.

The issue above of not adding references still happens from time to time.

I posted the issue on the discord chat and another user (Alex) had a theory about my query being about China or not presenting China in a positive light thus Deepseek R1 did not return references.

Thus I tried another thread asking a question unrelated to China and the output from Deepseek R1 included references. Thread ID is 20468263-649f-41ad-ba0f-ef75dc66c250

Alex also tested it with a less controversial question about China and Deepseek R1 output included references.

I recently tried another query in Deepseek R1 but this time my query was related to the US and it also did not provide references in the output.

I asked a query not related to a country in another thread and it gave references in its output.
