I’m over on hacker news a lot and people love Kagi over there, it’s part of the ethos of that community to be against what Google is doing.

That being said, I was paying user of Kagi for a year and I wanted to keep using it, but it turns out that location aware search is quite important for me. And both Kagi and DDG are not even remotely in the same league as Google in this regard. They are so hilariously inferior that they are not even what I would call usable. So I went back to Google. If Kagi is interested in onboarding new users and retaining existing ones they should focus on this feature.

Might be good to provide some example queries that currently don't work well because of the lack of this.

(What I'm wondering is if they set a region or not. Is this referring to hyper (like town level) location searches or country level?)

if it's hyper location searches, I guess they'd (from a privacy standpoint) probably have to add a button with a little location pin icon to enable it, so it's not constantly taking your location.
