When using an assistant its common for me to have an interaction that makes me want to edit the custom instructions. But modifying the settings feels cumbersome when compared to the ease of talking to the model itself. The experience of having an assistant would be greatly improved with simple macros like "remember this" triggering an add to custom instructions.
It would become an issue when there become too many custom instructions, but that could be a limit per assistant just like the 5000 char limit now.
Me: Recipe for french fires
AI: [Recipe] ... And serve with ketchup
Me: I don't like ketchup, remember that
The assistant should add such an instruction so on future invocations, the conversation goes like:
Me: Recipe for french fires
AI: [Recipe] ... And serve with an aioli
Moreover, for average users who aren't going to be prompt hacking, this allows a very easy interface for them to further customize the assistant without going to a settings page and learning what a "custom instruction" even is.
Me: How do I use you?
AI: [Explains assistant in 6000 words]
Me: Whoa i can't read that much, be more concise and remember that
AI: [Explains assistant in 150 words] / [Saves new instruction]
