Sometimes the snippets below search results contain misleading or wrong information with no discernible origin. I have been suspicious of the wording in result snippets for some time, but now I have an example to demonstrate my concerns.
My search term was simply "warzone 2100" (it's an older video game). One of the results was this:
URL: wz2100.net/news/version-4-3-1
Snippet: Warzone 2100 is a turn-based strategy game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Version 4.3.1 introduces a new difficulty mode, soundtrack, graphics options, bug fixes and more.
The problem is the word "turn-based". Warzone 2100 is not a turn-based game, never was, never will be. There is no mention of turns in that sense on the page. Other search results use the correct "real-time".
It's almost as if there was some sort of "world knowledge confusion" mixed into the snippet. But I have deactivated every AI setting I can find in Kagi, I want my results to be pure and know how to use FastGPT if I ever feel the need (which is very rare, but beside the point).
Is it possible to explain what happened here? Where do the snippets come from, since it's not the search result page itself?
