This feature would add the ability to configure the "Open Links in New Tab" setting individually for each Lens. Currently, this setting is global, but having it configurable per Lens would allow users to optimize their workflow for specific search contexts. For example, when using a Lens for documentation searches, having all links automatically open in new tabs would maintain the search context while allowing users to explore multiple documentation pages efficiently.
When using a documentation-focused Lens (e.g., for programming documentation), users frequently need to open multiple reference pages while maintaining their search context. With this feature, users could:
- Configure their documentation Lens to always open links in new tabs
- Keep their original search tab with the Lens active for further searches
- Easily compare multiple documentation pages side by side
- Maintain different tab behaviors for different Lenses based on their specific use cases
This builds upon the existing Lens feature by adding a simple toggle in each Lens's advanced settings.
