Love it! I'd be ready to say goodbye to DeepL (and pay more to Kagi) if you'd add word suggestions / replacements and apps / browser extension.
I appreciate the efforts put into developing this translation tool. However, I've noticed that it struggles with translating even small sentences, particularly in Japanese.
which limits its usefulness for me. I hope future updates will enhance its ability to handle both small and larger texts effectively. I plan to revisit and test it periodically to see how it improves over time. Thank you for your ongoing work on this amazing search engine.
Kate-Karui It is not a struggle, it is a bug we will look into it, thanks for reporting.
Kate-Karui This is fixed now, thanks!
Cool!
Is it possible to send GET parameters (source lang, destination lang, string to translate), so one can use tools such as Alfred to land directly on the translation?
Vlad Any chance of adding language search to the dropdown?
It takes some scrolling to get to the languages that are near the end of the list
Both deepl and google translate have search in language selection dialog
We are planning to add automatic translation as you type (for paid Kagi users).
Would be great if there was an easy way to jump to the translation page from search, having the option to replace Google Translate as the default for !trans* commands would be a nice touch.
It seems like it doesn't like to translate certain texts, it seems like there's some failsafe like some LLMs have.
Edit:
The full text can be found here:
KamilKurde Yes we can definetely do that. You can already find languages by starting to type it.
dotdashdot Thanks for reporting this. What is the full text?
Vlad Just edited to add the full text
Vlad So recently Google removed their ability to do full page translations with the google translate chrome plugin. This feature included dynamically added content via Javascript. It was awesome for reading news in foreign languages. I wish Kagi had a translate browser plugin that would be able to do this, it would be really cool
christophe Yes! https://translate.kagi.com/?text=foobar
It will used your last used language as target.
We can add params for source/target if needed.
Vlad source/target params would be great!
Would be great to have the translation automatically refresh when changing either language, instead of needing to click the Translate button.
Also would be nice to have multiple translations. Google translate gives you several translations of “lead” — (there's the metal, “to lead”, “lead actor”, and many others) whereas Kagi just gives you a single translation based on the most probable word (according to the LLM), in this case the metal.
It would be great to be able to see alternative words or whole sentences. In the screenshot an example.
