Steps to reproduce: Open current Privacy Policy (https://kagi.com/privacy).

The summary states "Kagi does not log and associate searches with an account."

This statement would still be valid, if Kagi were to log searches but not link them to an account. However, in other places the privacy policy states "To ensure your privacy and security, we don’t monitor, log or store your queries or associate them with your account.", which is a stronger statement for privacy.

It would be helpful to clarify this, are searches being logged anonymously or are they not logged at all? The current phrasing seems inconsistent/ambiguous.

This seems to be an important change, is this on the roadmap?

It seems to be planned but needs a good overhaul to address many other similar feedbacks. It’s soon™️

The updated privacy policy (as of 2025-02-13) seems to directly state that search queries ARE logged.

"... search queries themselves are only logged temporarily for debugging purposes and are automatically purged after a short period, as detailed above."

Luis Can you clarify if this is the case? There doesn't seem to be any other clear mention on how search queries are handled.

Refract9305 They are not logged in a way that they are linked to an account. The privacy policy shows timescales for which they are kept for debugging etc. without linking any account to those search queries.

Load Balancer Logs (7 days) = Identifies and protects against Denial of Service Attacks (DDoS prevention). Only a subset of traffic is sampled.

Virtual Machine Logs (7 days) = Contains debug information used to ensure system reliability and availability.

Sentry (90 days) = Contains information about errors and exceptions if such happen within our production applications.

Refract9305, marcel001122 reply includes the details--actually reading it made me realise we didn't add that Sentry logs are also a very small subset (fixing now).
Adding to this, we treat this matter extremely seriously, these systems are accessible only to a handful of individuals.
