A button similar to share results that lets you share the results of an assistant thread with someone (who doesn’t have a kagi account).

Needing to share a useful thread with someone.

I actually also didn't spot it, but this is already a feature:
clicking on the triple dot button next to a thread:

snowytrees changed the title to Share assistant threads without requiring account .

Thanks, didn’t realize that. I tried the share results button and the link doesn’t work when not logged in. Kagi gives a 404 error. Updated the title/request to be able to share static threads.

Yeah, this appears to be broken. Which is unfortunate as I was showing my wife Kagi Assistant would be better than Perplexity, which she presently uses, as we already pay for Kagi search. Unfortunately, we both frequently share threads.

hcurtiss (I have no idea of the internal workings of Kagi) but I suspect they want to be extra sure that the thread sharing system is secure and doesn't allow random people to see it and such.

Thibaultmol I suspect you're right, but it's so very useful. For instance, today I asked Assistant for some research regarding a company's financials my boss asked about. I'd very much like to share with him that thread, but he doesn't have a paid Kagi account. Perplexity makes this easy, and I've used it frequently.

I'm trying to share a Kagi Assistant thread.
I tried to open the link in a private window, and get a page saying "we haven't found anything".

I expect the shared conversation to appear in the private window

Merged 2 posts from Kagi Assistant sharing does not seem to work.

The assistant functionality is great! However, the "export" button was removed when it replaced the legacy chat functionality. Being able to export a chat to markdown was a great way for me to save off chat and info that I could share with colleagues.

I see it's possible to generate a share link, however It appears that the link is only for other Kagi members. Is it possible to either
                a) bring back the export button, or
                b) expand the share button to be able to share a read only version of the chat to anyone? I know microsoft one drive UI has functionality to specify if who and what rights they have to the files there, maybe something like that can be used to define a "read only" access that's able to be shared to anyone, regardless of whether or not they are a Kagi member. (perhaps the added exposure of read only URLS could drive in new members or increase exposure)

I would also like to share publicly some assistant threads. In some use case, it could allow me to show what kind of result a Kagi user can get, compared to other services. But I understand that these threads are the result of a paid service. So I suggest that the shared threads would be made static, with no further conversation allowed, at least on the public side. Furthermore, a limitation on the number of shared threads by week or month could be an idea. This number could be very low, something like 4 by month.

Now I do it through the export, but then I have to improve the markdown and convert it with pandoc.

                    What happened?

I cannot effectively share a public link to an Assistant thread

When I pasted this link into my Brave browser, I got the Kagi equivalent of a 404 page.

                    https://kagi.com/assistant/39114a5d-e54b-4849-ad89-cd472928a013

                    How did it happen?

I attempted to share a link to an Assistant thread in my Brave browser to make sure someone could reach the thread without needing a Kagi account.

What are the steps to replicate the issue.

                    1. I did an Assistant-produced summary of a PDF
                    2. I marked the thread as "preserved" and "shared"
                    3. I copied the link
                    4. I pasted the link in my Brave browser window.
                    5. I got a Kagi 404

What did you expect to happen? Describe the desired functionality.

I expected the link to open up in a freeze-dried state from Brave (meaning I couldn't interact with an Assistant, but I could read the transcript.

Essentially, a freeze-dried published Markdown version of the transcript.

+1 I just tried to share a thread to a friend who is a Kagi subscriber but not Ultimate and it 404d for him. I tested with a different friend who has Ultimate and he is able to view. Despite Assistant being for Ultimate plan subscribers, I guess I assumed that the share link would be read-only and thus sharable with anyone. Definitely would like the ability to share with anyone - for both utility sake and for just showing off how nice the Assistant product is!

This seems to be working now. I recommend closing this report.

achilles Yep, I just shared an Assistant thread with a family member and it worked perfectly.
