Pinned site appears below down-ranked sites

I pinned the website frequentmiler.com, and down ranked its competitors. Despite this, even when searching for an exact string matching the title of a page, that “pinned” page still appears lower than the down-ranked sites, on the second page of results.

This has actually been happening for a couple years. When researching credit cards, I often want results from frequentmiler.com but have to use site:frequentmiler.com to get results from it. I wonder if this site just has terrible SEO? It's disappointing, because its an ethical website with quality content.

Web pages matching the search terms from pinned sites should appear above all other results.

quinncom frequentmiler.com did not rank in the first results page, so it wasn't pinned at the top. Please let us know if you notice any other unexpected behaviour, and we'll investigate

While not exactly what you're looking for, I've just added a bang for frequentmiler.com, so after the next release you should be able to either search the site directly (!fqm query) or use a snap to limit the results to that site (@fqm query).

Luis Aha, I didn't realize that's how pinned sites work. It makes sense, as I wouldn't want frequentmiler.com pinned to the top for unrelated searches. I realize the better solution is to create a lens of the best churning blogs.

In any case, frequentmiler.com is now ranking better and appears at the top.
