Found another instance that probably helps explaining what is happening:

The search for Auflaufherzstück returned a lot of images of casseroles (in German: Auflauf).
I guess, Kagi did not find lot's of results for what I searched for and decided to split my search string into individual ones.
In case of my first search, it then decided that "Flach" was a typo of "Flash" and returned images of the Flash.
I suppose, this is some what reasonable, but kind of brakes down in German as we have lot's of long compound words where searching for just one part of the word does not really return what you searched for.
In these cases, maybe splitting the word in some way could be ok, if all the other word parts would be enforced to also be included in the search.
