UX: regenerating previous prompt should branch the response not the prompt

The assistant message should be branched, but not my message, this is rather confusing

Value7609 Hey! I'm merging your current report with a similar one you submitted previously. I believe these are related to the same issue. Could you please confirm if this assumption is correct? If I've misunderstood, please let me know

This seems to be more than an UI/UX issue:

If send a prompt with a file attached, and press the regenerate button, it will drop my file and branch off my message.

Expected: It does nothing with my message, leaves my file there, and branches of the Assistants message.
