The chat assistant still has context of my previous message after I edited the message. What's the point in having an edit button if it's just appending my edit to the bottom of the chat? This is a bug.

The new message should replace the old one in the context, not be appended to the bottom of the context.

I'm kind of surprised this wasn't fixed in the new release.
This still happens even when "branching" in messages from earlier in the conversation, all messages are included as "context".

This means there is no branching at all.
Still branching is mentioned multiple times even in this release even though it doesn't work at all.

Hey all - sorry for the lack of updates here; we are aware branching doesn't work as intended in some cases and is a top priority now that Upload is out the door. Appreciate your patience; we should have this addressed ASAP.

Still happening. It also causes instability in threads (at least when I'm using Claude 3.5 Sonnet), where after some edits the thread becomes unusably sluggish and eventually fails to output responses.

edapstah I also noticed this.

I have one thread where the branches seem to be a maze.
When I open the thread the top message is a message which was a message I edited further down the thread.
But the original thread is now in the branch 2/2, if I then scroll further down, there is another branch 3/3 of another message, if I go back in that branch, the top messages switches to the branch 0/2, and this is finally the original message which was my starting message for that thread. Don't know what happened there. And switching the branches takes some time and is a bit sluggish in that thread. To be fair the thread was really long, so this may be an edge case, but nonetheless a very weird experience.

Is this still a priority? It's still an issue, and renders the regenerate and edit features completely unusable, especially for more complicated tasks (programming). The inability to use these features is a daily inconvenience when using The Assistant.

pophob it's still a high priority and we apologise for the delay in resolving this. Expect it to be fixed in the next couple of weeks.
