Custom bang without input weird replacement

I have acustom bang !r with the following URL https://kagi.com/search?q=site:reddit.com+%s.

It works completely fine when I e.g. search !r example but when I do not supply anything and only search !r it will redirect me to https://kagi.com/search?q=site%3Areddit.com+%7B%7B%7Bs%7D%7D%7D

I expected to be redirected to https://kagi.com/search?q=site%3Areddit.com+

BTW, this is because kagi internally uses {{{s}}} to represent the search query rather than %s. still, not intended result
