Getting 403 when searching with VPN

I get a 403 forbidden when trying to do a normal search on kagi with activated Mullvad VPN. I don't want to disable my VPN to use kagi. Worked fine previously but today it seems to block my VPN. Works fine when disabling the VPN.

Activate Mullvad VPN, location Finnland. Access kagi.com in Firefox.

FWIW If you're seeing a white page with default styling you're most likely blocked by GCP (Kagi's hosting provider), not Kagi.

I'd contact Mullvad VPN support. I use Proton VPN and have no issues with kagi. I had issues with other website and the VPN company fixed them. Another thing to try is to use a different VPN server, some of them can work.

I use Mullvad in the states without issues (randomly jumping around). You could try to use the SOCKS5 proxy option, which provides a different IP from the standard wireguard/openvpn options - unless, of course, Google is blocking a whole subnet.

Ultimately, Kagi likely has the greatest pull to figure out why GCP is blocking something - I can't imagine Azure or AWS just blocking IP's without permission from the service owner - unless DDOS mitigations are in-effect.

I too need to disable my VPN (Mullvad) in order to use Kagi. It's a somewhat uncommon event, but it is a problem for a number of reasons and is a pretty big degradation in quality-of-life.

I have a hard time seeing how this is a problem with the VPN provider as all other sites work perfectly fine when this occurs, which leads me to believe that some - by the Kagi servers - assumed bad actor has been using the same VPN server as me.

Wouldn't it be a reasonable request to tie IPs used by valid account to a whitelist? Or, if the bad actor is a valid account, still let other well-behaved subscribers use the IP?
