I appreciate Kagi's commitment to unbiased technology. However, I noticed that Safe Search is enabled by default, which introduces a form of bias by filtering content. To align with Kagi's principle of avoiding non-search quality-related biases, I propose making Safe Search an opt-in feature.
Kagi's policy emphasizes avoiding moral and political biases while downranking pages with ads and trackers to improve search quality. However, Safe Search's default setting contradicts this approach by applying a predefined filter. Moreover, what is considered "Safe" content varies by context, further highlighting inherent bias. Being clear about how Safe Search works and what it blocks is essential to see if it really fits with neutral search results.
