Not sure if this is expected but I had a search query which returned exactly two results, and when I removed some of the terms, I was able to get both 0 and 1 result depending on which terms I removed.
Maybe my expectations are wrong but intuitively I would think that having fewer constraints in the search query would give an equal or greater number of results.
