  • When uploading an excel document, generic error is provided with no recovery instructions other than try again later

When using Research Assistant in Expert mode, I uploaded an excel file with giving data and received a generic error.

I have the session URL if the staff would like it for troubleshooting purposes.

I would expect that the document would run and that I could query the assistant about insights, etc. However, if something were wrong with the data gathering, additional feedback on why it was not working and how to fix it would be immensely helpful.

Edit: I tried the same spreadsheet again 12 hours later and received the same error immediately.

bebowilson Can you give us steps to reproduce (any excel document that reproduces the error) Also I am not sure we support excel (what made you think we do, does ChatGPT support it?)

Vlad oh yeah, ChatGPT, CoPilot, etc. does so since I was able to upload that file extension I assumed it would run it. Might be a case of validating and communicating valid extensions if those aren’t supported at the moment.

      Research anything
Upload a file (TXT, PDF, DOC, WAV, CSV, etc.) 16MB maximum size makes me think that an excel wouldn’t be a problem.

bebowilson I think we didnt officially support it yet but we probably should.
