Safari extension broken on iOS 17.5

I’m having a strange bug with the Kagi for Safari TF version of the extension, so when I do a search in the browser search bar, I get redirected to the login page. However I’m not logged out, in fact when I visit kagi.com, I’m logged in and on the homepage. I don’t get redirected to the login page, when using the search bar on the homepage, only when using the browser search bar.

I’ve previously allowed the extension to read all data from duckduckgo.com, so it could redirect me to Kagi. And that’s what I set as my default search engine inside the Safari settings, in case that’s nice to know. Also I only took one step, which was to replace the App Store version with the TF version.

astronaut please allow kagi.com in extension permissions or set private session link in extenpopup, any of these should fix the issue

Sorry for the delay in responding. Vlad, I did use a private session token. Dino, I downloaded build 28 and it seems to work fine.

dino It already has access to duckduckgo.com, as it saves those changes when switching between versions, and also reinstalling. But I could try enter my private session key, and also use it in my private windows.

@dino I’m still being redirected to the login page, even after adding my private session key, copied from kagi.com, control center, copy session link, open extension settings, paste session link into the field and clicked ok.

astronaut are you on iOS 17.5? Please confirm your iOS version and device model. Also share language and region config, so we will try to reproduce this issue locally.

astronaut can you please try allowing kagi.com (extension uses a content-script specific to kagi.com) in extension preferences, like in screenshot

I ran into a similar issue on iOS 17.4.1 starting this morning - each time I searched, I was redirected to the login page. When I tried logging in, I got a 403 code (even without a VPN). But when I went right to Kagi.com, I was still logged in and could search. I tried both the App Store and test flight versions.

Changing the extension settings to “allow” for Kagi.com resolved the issue for me too.

Hello,

After I updated to 2.2.4, the extension doesn't work correctly for me anymore. I use iOS 17.5.1.

Everything is set and configured as outlined in the posts above.

When typing something in the address bar and hitting return, I get one of the following:
-the Kagi login page (despite being logged in)
or
-the Kagi search results page, BUT with the results of the last successful search

I also tried installing the test flight version, but get the same results.

Vlad I did reinstall multiple times. And I just reinstalled after rebooting the phone. Sadly the problem persists.

Sometimes it works for a couple of searches and then the last search keeps showing up again.

Also tried removing all website data, rebooting and reinstalling.

One thing I noticed is that kagi.com is in the permissions list even after reinstalling. Not sure this is by design or a bug. duckduckgo.com is gone and needs to be added again.

Neagrammata we use a content-script for kagi.com and that’s why it’s in the list, as content-script also requires access to the host. Allowing this will fix login page issue

Neagrammata tried reinstalling extension as well - no dice. Had to disable Kagi for now

dino Unfortunately my settings already are exactly like the ones you posted. kagi.com is and has been enabled. The behaviour is still erratic.
I also did try disabling all other extensions, but it didn't help

The extension doesn’t work at all for me. It just goes to whichever default engine I’ve chosen. I’m on a 2018 iPad Pro running 17.5. It was working until i upgraded Stop The Madness to its pro version. I’ve turned it off but the problem persists.

Ron are you using latest extension version 2.2.4? if yes, try opening extension popup to check if this have enough permissions. Please let us know if still not fixed
