AI is a broad term and encompasses machine learning. Machine learning has been used in search for decades. It is almost impossible to run large scale web search without the use of machine learning in some context.

In that case a compromise to me would be to keep all the AI related features under 1 category inside the settings.

I think this makes sense. We already have Assistant related settings (which are currently accessible in ultimate plan only) and it makes sense to move everything related into one settings page.

OpenAI is not cheap.
I know that a token is cheap but at the end of the day it will cost Kagi a LOT if I summarize a lot of content.

My point is

External LLM will cost a lot
I don't want to pay for that (as I won't use it)
I want to continue to pay for the best search engine

Hi everyone, we've introduced a dedicated AI section in the Kagi settings to consolidate all GenAI-related features for easier management.
Currently, the only GenAI feature that activates automatically is the Auto Quick Answer. All other AI features require explicit user activation, which is why there are no switches for them.

I'd love the ability to disable all AI features, so: entirely disabling quick answer - removing the button and auto answers with "?", removing links to the Universal Summariser in the menu, removing links to fastGPT in the menu, and removing the assistant in the menu.

I would gladly pay extra for a plan that:

does not have any AI features;
will not add AI features in the future;
does not try to upsell me into enabling AI features.

I'm fine with ignoring all the sparkle buttons, but it'd be a lot easier if they just weren't there to begin with.

I don't think making a plan that costs more and has less features is going to happen because it doesn't really make sense.

I was going to say that not showing the AI services in the app menu could be a feature requests, but actually seeing as all plans will soon include a base amount of ai usage, those would have to be there.

I think this issue can be merged with https://kagifeedback.org/d/4014-option-to-turn-off-all-ai-features if you agree with that.

About the apps menu: I think it might be possible to create custom css that removes those options from the menu. I'll try and look into that for you

Thibaultmol I would argue having a plan that costs more and has fewer features would make it make sense from a business perspective. Of course, it's not a value proposition for most users, but it would be for me.
Having said that, I'll settle for a free master kill switch as discussed in the other thread. Feel free to merge.

After having installed that custom css, what are the main other things you'd like to not see? It can probably be made invisible using simple css as well tbf
