When searching I often want to start with the most recent information on a topic and work my way backwards in time by expanding the search to include more. Start with 3 months, move to 6, then 1 year, 3 years, etc.
When clicking on the date filter there is already past 24hrs, past week, past month, past year, however any deeper dives require using the calendar picker which is cumbersome. When in the flow and wanting quick retrospection to the past, having a simple option to set how many months or years ago easily would be awesome.
It would be nice to have a tiny editable field with a default value of 1 so that the dropdown reads reads:
Past [ 1 ] Months
Past [ 1 ] Years
This field could quickly be edited to easily search for Past [ 6 ] Months or even Past [ 0.5 ] Years and beyond - Past [ 3.5 ] Years. On click/enter the fields current value would be cleared and the user could type the number they want to go back to.
