Support instant summary box on mobile

Add support for instant summary boxes on mobile.

This would let users find simple informations faster on-the-go.

Ideally, this would be implemented by taking half of the suggestion area, with a 'tap to expand' button to expand the summary box to take up the entire suggestion area.

This approach is better than taking up the entire area by default, as it still provides users easy access to the text suggestions, just like in the current desktop implementation.

I thought about this for a little bit.
I made a mockup withe the following assumptions:

that the icon on the primary search result simply reaffirms the term and wouldn't be missed (for example, if one clicked another arrow and clicked back)

If so, it could be possible to use that space for a chevron that toggled a small accordion, where summaries or other goodies could live.

Example below.

Edit: Of course, this doesn't fit the idea of using half the space, but I think this is the sort of thing that accordions are made for.

sefidel Thanks, "tap to expand" is what I was thinking with the design too, but the accordion would be activated only by tapping on the right chevron (so tapping the actual suggested search term would still go to the search results).

It might be worth noting that a tap to do the actual search also will show the summary box, but I do think I agree that it would be consistent with desktop and possibly remove or inform the need to complete a full search. I could be missing something though!

skinnyjames Hmm, maybe we could always show that (expandable) summary box?

Users can press enter/click the top suggestion to search with the original query, and other suggestions (albeit probably half of them) would be still easily accessible on mobile screens.
