I was going to make a post but I found this thread so I will add my own report here.

Search term: "kagi search engine"
Options: United States (US), Recency - Newest First, Time - All, Verbatim & Personalized (Both disabled)
Connected to: EUROPE-WEST2
https://kagi.com/search?l=4&q=kagi+search+engine&order=2&personalized=0

The search results seems to be sorted out of order when enabling Recency, even with Personalized disabled.

  1. Mar 4, 2024 - Kagi + Wolfram | Kagi Blog
  2. 2022-07-03 (Date in result snippet) - Kagi Search Engine: One Month Update | Dave...

Another example of sorting by newest not working:
https://kagi.com/search?q=site%3Anews.ycombinator.com+kagi&order=2&personalized=0&r=no_region&sh=mdVfGY6LXkYHnbjF1Gfj3Q

First result is from 4 months ago, second is from March 2023, third is from 7 months ago. Then got a dead link (old noobcomment), a thread from 4 months ago, and then one from 8 months ago.

Fun fact: result n.16 ("Kagi Raises $670K") has a "&ref=upstract.com" in the URL for some reason.

nobodywasishere Tried again my kagi query above, I see an improvement but the problem still seems there. (new link here, not sure if I have to regenerate it to update the results). The first two results are from 2022, then there is a 7 months old post. More examples going down. Not sure if it's relevant to this bug report, but only the first two results have the date directly under the link in the search engine. Noticed that some regions are better than others (e.g. results for Italy have a post from today as first result, the order of others is still wrong).

Testing also with reddit (query here) there are no dates next to the results and - first one is from 2 years ago (has a sublink for a completely different post in a different subreddit that's 12 hours old, why?? maybe that's the reason it's at the top), then got two results from 2 months ago. Going a bit further down, there is a post in r/searchengines that is 3 years old, then the kagi subreddit, and then a 1 month old post in r/browsers.

edit: related bug report here

giorgiobrux IIRC results links don't link to the exact results you're seeing, unfortunately.

For me those searches are working correctly:

Can you post screenshots of your results?

nobodywasishere Okay that's weird, the results are also different than those I saw at the time of writing the comment.
This is what I see at the moment, still out of order:
