rel="me"
hyperlinks are used to consolidate a person's website with their social profiles - see the Microformats wiki and IndieWeb for more information. Mastodon uses this information to display a checkmark against a link on a user's profile (see the Mastodon documentation). Kagi could use this mechanism to display icons next to results that link to the page author's social profiles. rel=me
is also supported by GitHub, Threads and Wikipedia.
For example when searching for a topic, someone's blog post is returned in the results and they happen to have their Mastodon account linked on their site with the rel="me"
attribute. A little mastodon icon appears next to or below the result that will take you to their profile.
