I searched for:
bitbucket java api examples
The second main result is https://developer.atlassian.com/server/bitbucket/reference/java-api/ which is just a listing of pointers to APIs etc, the examples
keyword has been completely ignored it seems.
Steps to reproduce:
- search for: bitbucket java api examples
- verify that one or more results aren't about examples at all
I expect every result to be at least related to these keywords even if they don't match 100%.
This query in itself is hardly a big problem, but I have a feeling it has been going on for a while and this was just the latest occurence of it. I was about to forget it like I think I have done a number of times before but then this discussion came up on HN where several comments mentioned the same feeling I had (here, here and here) and I saw that Vlad wanted examples I decided to go through my logs and find it and report it.
This (trying to be smart about my queries) was how Google started failing for me over a decade ago so I want to be loud and clear and point out that this is the main thing I pay for: correct search results.
Yes, I can put doublequotes around it but I guess then it will only match examples
in plural, not example and other synonyms. Besides, it shouldn't be necessary: you used to manage this just fine.
It also isn't a good case for blocking or lowering the priority of the domain since it is the official website for the product, just the wrong page.
Edit: as I am finishing up this I realize that even if I cannot see the word example or anything similar on the page I guess a significantly advanced AI model can infer "(code) examples" from the maven dependencies on the page. If so it is more understandable, but has still made mea research and write all this so maybe need some tuning?
