Image search not respecting minus / negative operator

Did an image search for twist spring since I'm looking up something mechanical

I got a lot of hair related results which I didn't want. I changed my query to add minus operators for hair related terms. Despite adding several of them, and changing the search results, the pages still had the terms I had excluded.

twist spring -hair -hairstyle -hairstyles -braids
https://kagi.com/images?q=twist+spring+-hair+-hairstyle+-hairstyles+-braids

The minus operator should work.

If you search for "twist spring mechanical" you will get the results you're looking for. I think it's better to add than to subtract, as a general rule.

Tiny_Beetle Yes, that's a good idea. For example Google Images works pretty well with the minus operators.
