Searching for python tail call optimization yields this stack overflow widget:
As you can see, the text of the Stack Overflow comment contains references to links which are defined at the bottom.
The problem is, that these links appear inside the code-block, so they won't get recognized as Markdown links.
I expected it to look the same as on Stack Overflow:
