Attaching screenshots comparing the top News Search results for Kagi vs. Google for a breaking news event. On Google News, the top four results were all related to the event while on Kagi News, the relevant event doesn't show up until the fourth result, and from a lower quality source even though I have up-ranked WSJ. Also, the WSJ result shows a result dated 2020, when there is clearly a more relevant recent result as shown on the Google search.
I expected stories covering the most recent, most relevant stories to surface to the top. FWIW, the web search results weren't much better (and may be influenced by my WSJ preference). The top result is for an older web page (Internet Archive shows the earliest archive of that page is from mid 2022) that is not related to the breaking news story:
