We do not/can not know if that is affecting you.
The same goes for me. Arguably every changelog affects me because it affects my experience using Kagi. And i am well aware by refusing to check the changelog everytime its updated before i enter a search query that my experience may be surprising (tho isnt that true all the time for all software & services? Bugs happen everyday).
To be clear, im not wishing that Kagi only notifies when something is important or affects specifically me.
I am merely suggesting that a notification badge is not the best method for all users.
I mean, the whole purpose is to notify someone that something has happened, in a timely, persistent manner, yes?
You guys are already doing that by posting to a changelog at all.
Whenever i click on the changelog, i can see that updates have happened. If you want, you can even put a marker on "unread" changes.
But for me to read the changelog, i need to do it on my own time. If a badge is telling me to do it, i will just click on the badge to clear it and not read.
To me an unread badge is a type of tool. It's a user's responsibility to determine if a tool is appropriate for a given situation.
If i miss an update i regret missing, thats my own fault and not Kagi's.
