Current location often ignored in search results

Kagi has my location as "United Kingdom" which is correct. So when I search for "Best gym in Birmingham" I would expect results related to Birmingham, in the United Kingdom.

The first result I get is "Best Gyms in Birmingham, Alabama" which is not relevent to my search case.

With my location being used, I would expect results to be weighted towards Birmingham, England.

Similar when searching anything "Dunedin" and getting "Dunedin FL" results when I'm not in USA. I personally tried to work around this with a lens which excludes FL, and it sort of works.

Google's default location weighting is really good, but I'm concerned that having it turned on all the time could cause me to miss out on useful information from around the world.
