I've noticed that search results often contain wrong dates and inconsistently formatted dates (See (3), some results contain just the raw string of the date while some are in a nicely formatted box). This can be consistently reproduced in many searches. I especially notice it on Reddit results. This seems to only happen when I use the Sweden region.

I encounter these date errors almost every day and sometimes it is actually misleading when trying to find results from specific years but the stated date in Kagi is just outright wrong. If you need more examples, let me know and I can provide them.

Thanks!

I came across this the other day when I was trying to find news about a tax rate change here in the UK that happened recently. In the UK at least, tax rates change quite often (at least yearly) so the date was kinda crucial: if it was more than a few weeks old, the article would contain outdated info.

Sadly, the dates in Kagi search results where totally useless as they were almost all wrong, so I had to fall back to Google.

Vapid changed the title to Dates are often wrong in search results & filters .

nanos Please provide an exact query with screenshots from Google/Kagi.

Vapid What is a date of a reddit post? Date it was submitted? Last comment added? Updated? Note that we are passing the value that the upstream provider is giving us and the date would likely be wrong in other search engines too.

Vlad The submission date from posts on the likes of Reddit, Hackernews, Tildes, Twitter, Mastodon, etc., is what I would consider relevant. It would surprise me if a lot of people disagree with this.

I feel pretty sure I've seen these issues with other sites than Reddit as well, and that I've then compared it with Google to see it do it correctly. I'll be sure to post screenshots and details as I come across them again.

nanos Can you compare this date with other search engines?
