Less aggressive pinning/downrank other languages

I have docs.python.org pinned and when searching defusedexpat I got a Japanese and Chinese documentation site for the built-in xml module for an old python version 3.7 as the first result, even if I don't have the region/language set to 'Japanese' nor 'Chinese'.

Though the second result is the correct one (the one I wanted).

Show the currently second result as top result, and don't pin that site when it's another language I don't understand. (Would've been okay for me, if it was the current python version documentation in English or German)

Value7609 This is the effect of pinning the site as it would surface it straight to the top even if it is rsult #70. Perhaps raising it instead would have a better effect?

Vlad I guess pinning is what I set, so it is what should happen. Though in this case (and some others) it is very much unrelated to the query/not what I want. Maybe you could (maybe a new setting?, maybe a new "category" next to pin/raise/lower/block something like "pin if relevant") only pin a site if it is in the top 50% of the results you fetch, and the other 50% should only be raised, if this makes sense.

Value7609 If we didnt believe the results was relevant it would nto surface in the first place. However pinning something properls it even from position 70 to 1 - because that is what pin does. It is not clear how do we fix this problem. Maybe pin should work only for first 10 results?Maybe some other users would compain that it is is not really pinning it to the top then?

Vlad sorry for the late response, yeah, that's why I thought about another category or about a setting. Though this probably adds too much, maybe the focus should just be, to better filter for languages and improve search results, so the top results are all relevant, even if the 70th get's pinned.
