Switch between search and assistant mode without clearing the search

This functionality of keeping the text when switching between modes is not working for me on desktop or mobile, but it used to. I'm not sure if anything has changed.

I have the same experience as @Camilo . The query is not kept when switching between modes, which I find very annoying.

This causes me to have to switch back, click the text, select all, copy, switch to the desired mode, select the text input, and paste it in.

This is a very critical feature for my workflow and I was having to follow that painful process that @Magnolia5363 detailed above.
