Why using Google to host the platform?

As the virtual machines are not end-to-end encrypted I believe technically certain Google employees can access the Kagi database, track and store session data Kagi does not store and use this internally or for govt purposes without Kagi being aware.

How much % of the subscription fees I pay monthly go directly to pay for Google hosting and Google API requests each month?

Some of the biggest business in the world host on GCP. If Google ever touched or tinkered with any of its customer's data or records, not only that would instantly be the end of GCP, but potentially Google as a business as well.

When we were deciding which cloud provider to use for Kagi, we decided GCP had the most advanced technology for our use case. We are competing with Google's products and business model, not their technology.

That means we have to trust Google.

After reading the book 'Permanent Record' from Edward Snowden I no longer trust Google.

They keep shadow profiles from users. They do allot of things against privacy, in favor of their business model or serving interests of their government.

I deleted my Evernote Account when realizing thousands of my personal records and notes where stored on a Google server.

Speaking with others, I don't know many people who actually do trust Google. The reason they did not leave, is because they see no way out.
