Steps to reproduce:

Try to search using a long search query, e.g. "site:example.org/this/is/a/very/long/search/query/that/exceeds/the/length/of/the/search/field "exact term""
Try to edit the end of the long search query, e.g. in the example above, try to edit the "exact term" at the end.
The input field does not scroll, seemingly cannot be scrolled, and there is no obvious way to see and edit the end of the search query. It may be that the magnifying glass icon at the end obscures the end of the search query.

Expected behavior:
I expected the input field to automatically scroll to the part of the query I am editing. E.g. if I select the entire query and press the right arrow button on my keyboard (thereby jumping to the end of the query), I would expect the input field to scroll all the way to the right so the end of the query is visible. This is how search fields generally behave on other search engines, e.g. DuckDuckGo.

Debug info:
Firefox, Xubuntu if relevant, but I have found this is the case on Chromium as well.

i've encountered this bug while editing text in the kagi.com search bar on safari ios 17. here are the specifics:

• issue 1: text in search bar extends under "x" button, causing accidental clearing when attempting to move cursor to end of text
• issue 2: cursor disappears when holding down space bar to move it
• current workaround: use text selection cursors to move to end of text, select last character, replace and continue typing
• suggestion 1: fixing bugs
• suggestion 2: implementing a multi-line wrap

Steps to reproduce:
tap end of text to place cursor; tap and hold space bar, and drag right to place cursor at end of text

Expected behavior:
cursor at end of text

this is the same as this issue which has many merges. marked as done but i still encountered - is it rolled out yet?

yay!! i am still having problems moving my space-bar cursor in the search field. but that's less important, 95% of my issues are resolved here.
