Cmd+click on Chrome in iPad OS does not open links in a new tab

Steps to reproduce:
Search for anything. In Chrome on iPad OS 17 cmd+click on a link with a physical keyboard (I'm using Magic Keyboard for iPad) and it does not open the link in a new tab. It works fine in Safari though.

Expected behavior:
Should open the link in a new tab.

Debug info:
iPad Pro M2, iPad OS 17, Chrome, Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad

We simply add target="_blank" to links. Could this be a Chrome for iOS bug? Does it work in other browsers?

Actually it looks like it's a Chrome on iPad OS bug. No links (other sites too) work with cmd+click to open a new tab it seems. It works fine in Safari though.
