Add text input to Summarizer

I assume the summarizer works for paywalled content if the user is logged in to FT and uses the Kagi extension in their browser?

buteo It does not, crawler has no access to user cookies from the browser.

Currently the universal summarizer can only summarize articles without paywalls. It would be really helpful if it can summarize articles behind them by using cookies with browser extensions. It especially helps to journal articles which are usually a PDF file behind paywall which won't allow us to directly sum them with current extension.

Any thoughts on using a browser extension to be able to summarize paywalled articles for sites where I'm logged in? This would be an incredibly helpful feature since a lot of what I'd like summarized are things like news articles for sites like FT, NYT, WSJ, etc.

I guess the eventual workaround would be to download a copy of the article and upload it manually once uploading to the Summarizer is available.

The Kagi extension could’ve extracted the full text from the fully rendered DOM and sent it to its backend instead of only a URL. That’s technically possible and exactly how read-it-later services such as Instapaper and Readwise Reader have been able to save paywalled content if the user has access.

This does not sound complicated but in order for this to work we would need to add a text area input for the universal summarizer, which is possible. Then we would have to change the extension to allow for this. Not impossible just requires coordination between several teams all of which are overwhelemd with work, for not so much perceived benefit at this time. I wish we had more resources.
