Quickbangs are custom bangs you can set up where you use bangs without the !
I think of what to search first then decide what bang to apply and many bangs are weird enough (!gi, !wa, !f, !gnews) that they wouldn't get caught up in a regular search term.
From my perspective I would definitely prefer being able to use quickbangs anywhere in the search query not just the beginning.
