Sorry for the bad title...I really couldn't sum this issue up into one sentence.
Right now it seems that Kagi likes to focus on the most complete (longest) autocomplete match fitting the search possible. While in theory this is good, sometimes you actually only want part of the match, and that partial match is actually of significantly higher value.
Because I'm sure this still makes no sense, try these examples:
I want Baldur's Gate 3 reviews
I type Baldur's Gate 3 rev
expecting it to autocomplete there
I get 3 review suggestions, but each with an appended site (IGN, Reddit, Metacritic) and no option just for review
Take this one to the extreme - Baldur's Gate 3 Revie
is all reviews...but not just review!
Using the same example, but I just want the metacricic page, typing baldur's gate 3 meta
and i get two metacricic results at positions 3 and 4, both with appended non-relevant terms. I would be willing to bet that the autocomplete suggestion ending in metacritic
alone would have the highest score and appear at the top.
Hope this made sense. Hard to describe but easy to see.
