Posting here by suggestion of Kagi support, connecting from Germany.
Here's Kagi taking 2.72 for a simple "test search" query, versus just 435 ms for the same Google search.
I don't expect Kagi to be as fast as Google searches, but 2.72 s feels very slow, and the time reported in the search itself is always <700 ms.
