Brazil, São Paulo - Kagi normally connects to US-EAST with ~ 225ms
It's not that slow, but of course is noticeable comparing to Google.
Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Delhi NCR, India
I'm from the southern part of Ukraine. It's not necessarily slow, but it definitely does feel slower than google.
Bangkok, Thailand
On first day it was a bit slow, but nowadays I think it's as fast as Google
Finland is best for me. Not surprising, since I live in Finland
Not surprisingly, Sydney is closest to me. Subtract approx. 580ms to remove satellite latency from ping times. I usually get connected to ASIA-EAST.
Finland’s best for me, well, i live near Finland
Germany, North Rhine Westphalia (ISP is 1und1/Telekom)
Thanks everyone for posting. We are looking into opportunities to improve.
From Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Kagi is very slow, 2-3 second wait for search result.
New Zealand. I do find Kagi significantly slower than Google, though it's not painfully slow.
I couldn't think of an easy way to start both searches at exactly the same time, but you can see that although I start the Kagi search first, it doesn't show results until just after the Google search is done. Both are pretty fast though!
For the record I have a 300Mbps down/100Mbps up connection.
Hi, it's a bit different each time, but this seems fairly representative:
Fast enough here. But compared to Startpage, Google and DuckDuckGo still a bit slower.
janpeeters Can you post a side by side video to illustrate that?
Taipei, Taiwan
Kagi pages load quickly - but results take 3+ seconds to appear.
It looks like perhaps the page doesn't lazy load results and some take longer than others to return.
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Browser: Firefox 100 b7, also the same on Chrome 100.0
OS: macOS 12.3.1
Hardware: Macbook Pro M1 Pro (2021)
Internet: 1000Mbit down, 50Mbit up (and an ISP with good peering/routing)
sm Thanks, can you post a video of typical result load for you with network tab open? And also one using https://kagi.com/html
Hey @sm , we have made a number of significant changes to how our services are advertised and how users are routed to them over the past week. I'm also in Australia, but haven't encountered any issues resembling this in either of the locations I'm based out of. I've reviewed the specific entries for these requests in our logs too, and while it was directed to the right endpoint for Melbourne (our SEA endpoint), there was a lot of latency in the request itself.
You also seem to be accessing over an IPv6 address. Just confirming that is expected to be the case and you haven't ended up on a failover connection?
liamstevens howdy! Yes that's correct - Melbourne and IPv6.
I'm with the ISP Aussie Broadband (AS4764), however - I noticed similar performance when using 5g on my phone (Telstra Mobile):
If there's any tests you'd like me to run I'm happy to do so.
It feels like JavaScript especially since the pure HTML version of the site is very quick.
@sm , great, thanks for the confirmation. I'm on the infrastructure side of the fence so I'll need to liaise with one of our devs to look at this in more detail, but it's good to get confirmation that it is at least consistent for you across providers.
For what it's worth, I have an Aussie Broadband service in Tasmania that I use, and a Telstra service in Brisbane, and both work just fine. I think it's pretty clear this is a JS problem like you say . I'll get back to you on this when I can.
Hi, just wanted to add that I'm from regional Vic Australia, also with Aussie Broadband, and experiencing the same kind of delay in results displaying. The main page loads fast, but the results themselves have a noticeable multi-second delay.

Kagi is running slow for me today here on the east coast US ~ 6 PM.
High levels of variance between tests for latency using Kagi control pane. Previous control panel latency measurement was 110ms. Latest is 852ms.
GCloud direct latency measurement is < 60ms to US East servers.
liamstevens Did anyone get to the bottom of this slowness?
I find Kagi better than Google or DDG in every single way except this weird delay returning results
