I never use the Kagi Maps feature - simply because the map in Europe doesn't have much content (at least in Europe).

Can we add/remove buttons on the top bar (e.g. replace Maps with Google Maps) and drag-and-drop things out of the "MORE" menu for more customization?

Nankeru You can probably remove Maps with Custom CSS but not replace it.

The more menu can be fully customised though.

I am aware this can be removed using custom CSS and that the more menu can be customized. But not the main bar.

That's why I created the suggestion to allow us to customize the main bar. 🙂

kevinforrestconnors Generalized statements like this are not helpful.

But "Kagi maps are crap because of 1) 2) 3) ..." would be a much better contribution.

Partially duplicating my comment from https://kagifeedback.org/d/2305-fast-way-in-maps-to-jump-to-custom-map-provider-like-google-maps/9

I'd like a setting for the "Maps" search in the header to click to Google Maps. Usually the inline map is not showing for me when I'm looking for a map result, unfortunately (and the Google Maps link seems to no longer show there anyway).

Missing Google Maps data on search results pages (reviews, my saved places, Google streetview, user generated imagery) is a major downside of Kagi for me. Having a quick link to Google Maps will partially work around this.

Support suggested I revive this thread after I asked about an option to make the Maps link go to Google Maps.

The main thing that frustrates me about Kagi Maps is the (lack of) info about shops. For a specific pizza place nearby that I checked: you have phone number only, Google Maps has phone number and website links. You have a generic pizza image, Google has many real images. Your reviews just show the Yelp total (and doesn't even link to Yelp as far as I can tell); on Google Maps I can read individual reviews.

The other thing is less important, but the search functionality on Google Maps is better. I see that I can reorder results on Kagi Maps to a limited extent, but on Google Maps, I can search for (for example) Thai restaurants with 4.5 stars or more that are open now. If there is a way to do that in Kagi, it's not obvious to me.

I do think you should support configuring the top level Maps link as an advanced setting (it doesn't have to be the default) unless there is some business / finance reason you can't. It's literally just remapping a URL (which you already support in a configurable fashion for actual search results).

I basically stopped using Kagi due to this at one point and I'm giving it another try.

This continues to be the only thing stopping me from using (and paying for) Kagi. I'm willing to accept the lack of business info cards and/or inline map in the search results if I can just not have to ever use Kagi/Apple/whatever maps.

I understand wanting to bring as much of the search experience in house but Google Maps has close to 2 decades of experience and data going for it (both industrially collected and user submitted corrections and reviews). To say nothing of my data (where I live, where my friends live, where I go most often, etc.).

It's probably best to link of Google Maps (and maps in general) not as a "search" product but as its own whole-ass product (I certainly hope the FCC thinks so) which just happens to include search functionality and happens to be tightly coupled with Google.

I'm sure the time of day overlays are useful for some people and some uses (maybe if you were looking for a place to live and wanted to see how the shadows would affect you?), but that's not really a killer feature that makes up for the lack of other standard features and data.

dysiode This continues to be the only thing stopping me from using (and paying for) Kagi.

These demands are starting to get tiresome. Are you more important than all other customers? I agree with you that Google Maps is better and should be an option for the top bar, but even without this feature Kagi is well worth the price. Such a tiny detail can't make any difference for anybody honestly considering a Kagi subscription. You can still use Google Maps through a bookmark, through an app, through a !bang, etc.
