Whoops, for some reason I didn't get any notifications for the continuing discussion —
I like your idea, @Vlad! I do agree with @seventhwave that some of the advanced capabilities, especially full-text archiving and tagging, would be important to have in order to make this an attractive minimum-viable offering from Kagi.
I'd definitely be happy to help brainstorm on this.
Also, I just visited tinygem.org —
- the initial connection to their (your?) site was very slow fyi. 10+ seconds.
- the concept looks cool, but it is slightly different than personal archiving platforms, like Pinboard or Raindrop.
- I'd prefer to stay away from personalized recommendations/using ML to surface recommendations in a tool like this
- I don't see full-text search or perma-archiving
- not sure if it's there or not, but I don't see any mention of an RSS feed
Tinygem looks like it could be a good foundation to build the additional functionality on top of!
EDIT: I just pulled up the /changelog page for Tinygems, and note:
- It does do archiving, via archive.is and archive.org. Nice!
- It says "Full text search with tag support." It's unclear to if this means I can search either in the document's full text OR my saved tags, OR if this means I can search the full text of my saved tags.
- It does include tagging. Nice!
