On Android, Samsung Browser is a pre installed web browser based on Chromium with limited extension support and Samsung ecosystem bona-fides (does using that phrase make me sound like AI?). It has some useful features distinguishing it from Chrome.
Unfortunately, the list of search engines is pre-baked, so it is practically a no-go for Kagi users. I sent a feedback request to add Kagi there, but I think they either ignored me or ruled it out. None of the other engines they have are paid, which is problematic. The Kagi search and suggestion urls work fine in other browsers and presumably here, but they couldn't be pre set with a user token. There are a few potential things Kagi could do.
- Reach out to Samsung. Maybe they will not ignore the company. Hopefully the search
- Add the Kagi extension(s) to the Samsung browser addon store/list. The selection is pretty small, and I suspect Samsung approves each developer. The Kagi extensions already support mobile chromium well and could authenticate the user, including in incognito.
Exactly as in other browsers. All worth noting the Samsung Browser search widget is pretty snazzy
