As a daily user of Kagi Assistant, I want to understand my AI token spending habits so I can (e.g.) confidently reach for the more-expensive models when I want to throw one at a research task. But, the UX for understanding my AI usage is not coherent, so I often do not have this confidence.
I see two pages:
/settings/billing shows how close I am to exhausting token spend in the current billing cycle (which for me, renews on the 12th day of this month), but it has no detail of spending per day, and no detail of spending in any previous billing cycle.
/settings/consumption does show spending per day, but only with UTC day boundaries, and only for the current calendar month.
This doesn't make sense for, e.g., a user in the western USA, whose waking hours typically span two UTC days. So, I cannot see my AI spend for what I naturally perceive as a "day".
Further, since the current billing cycle includes most of the previous calendar month, I have no way to understand per-day spending for the current billing cycle (or for any previous cycle).
/settings/consumption also shows a monthly overview of AI cost, but only at the granularity of calendar months. This doesn't make sense given that my spending limits do not reset on calendar month boundaries.
I would like to be able to see:
- Per-day spending with boundaries at midnight in my local time zone.
- Perhaps default to the time zone matching the browser's locale, and allow the user to override the time zone via dropdown menu.
- Per-day spending going back to the beginning of the current billing cycle (even if it's in a different calendar month), and also for the previous billing cycle, which may have just ended.
- Per-billing-cycle spending going back as many cycles as there are data for.
