Kagi News: update refresh behaviour

My news feed refreshes after midday every day (BST), however I tend to make time for news first thing in the morning before I begin my day. I do like that it doesn’t constantly refresh throughout the day - it’s more like a newspaper like this and doesn’t suck all of my attention.

I propose a feature that allows the user to select the time of day that they’d like to refresh at. However if that wouldn’t be feasible, ensure that the default reset is 6am local time for users.

The user would have the previous days news in full every single day, as soon as they wake up.

Currently everyone gets the same news.

If the news would be updated once per hour then the cost would increase by 2300%. The 200,000 daily source articles are ingested by a central AI and there are no personalized news. If 100,000 readers got personalised stories then the cost could increase by 10,000,000%.

I don't know about those percentages. Responding to the OP, the staleness of the news is a primary reason I don't use it more. Perhaps there are some middle ground of a full update every 12 hours and "hot pulls" every three hours of just the most pressing stories (major natural disasters, geopolitical events).
My point: not all news pulls have to be the same.

Interesting that it works that way, I see that there would be a cost involved. Perhaps there could be some middle ground in the long term that balances cost with more frequent updates.

To have such a large gap from the exhausting 24/7 news cycle to once per day globally does have the effect of the content feeling stale.
